Kadikalesi Holidays

Kadikalesi Holidays – An authentic taste of the real Turkey

If you’re looking for a chance to see the real Turkey, beyond the neon strip lighting, blaring pop music and English-themed pubs of resorts like Bodrum and Gumbet, Kadikalesi is the place for you. A small seaside town located around 4km north of Turgutreis, Kadikalesi has somehow managed to avoid the mass development and commercialism that has bloated other resorts. You’ll find a sleepy, laid-back coastal village set amongst orange groves and Eucalyptus trees; think small wooden houses covered in bougainvillea, a short main street leading to a long, golden beach and a smattering of authentic tavernas, restaurants and shops.

The town gets its name from the castle found on a hill overlooking the village - ‘Judge’s Fortress’ - from the days when the magistrate used to live there.  Now a crumbling ruin, it’s well worth the walk up here for the view out to sea. Back in the village, you’ll find more evidence of Kadikalesi’s past in the old Greek Church dating from the Roman era.

Holidays here are all about relaxing on the beach and sampling delicious Turkish cuisine in the beachfront restaurants. Nightlife is low-key to say the least. For a livelier night out, catch a dolmus to Turgutreis or Bodrum a short journey away. A great choice for those looking to relax and unwind in peaceful surroundings.
