Yalikavak Holidays

Yalikavak Holidays – A tranquil traditional fishing village

A small, laid-back fishing village on the northern coats of the peninsula, Yalikavak is one of those rare resorts that have managed to retain their original Turkish charm despite increasing tourism in the region.  The resort centres around an attractive harbour lined with an eclectic mix of old and new buildings, from traditional tavernas to elegant restaurants. The town centre is traffic free; this combined with the old stone houses and ancient olive trees gives the resort a timeless feel. Yalikavak is one of the least developed towns in the area, with much more in common with Turgutreis and Kadikalesi than Gumbet or Bodrum.

Lazy leisure activities are the order of the day in Yalikavak, from an early morning stroll around the Cove of Arka Kudur or a trip to the nearby village of Sandima for an authentic Turkish mezze, to a hike up to the village of Geris – known as the ‘Tibet of Bodrum’ from where you can witness awe-inspiring sunsets. Or just lounge around on the attractive sandy beach.

The weekly market draws people from all over the Bodrum Region looking for a bargain. Popular excursions include boat trips along the peninsula coast or across to the nearby Greek Islands of Rhodes and Kos. Nightlife is low-key, mainly centred around the waterfront bars and tavernas. All in all, a great choice for couples after a relaxing holiday.
