Early season days in May and June can reach 20C-24C, and peak season weeks in July and August rise to 29C-30C, with the sun shining for up to 10 hours each day. Late summer and autumn still sees temperatures of 20C – 25C, and around 6-7 hours of daily sunshine.

Fly to Gerona Airport (GRO) or Barcelona Airport (BCN) – just a 2-2.5 journey from the UK. There are plenty of departures from all the country’s regional airports, including London Gatwick, Heathrow, Stansted, Luton, Manchester, East Midlands, Birmingham, Cardiff, Bristol, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool, Newcastle, Glasgow and Prestwick.
Gerona Airport is a small airport, located 35km from the resort, with the larger Barcelona Airport being 60km away. Transfers are included on package holidays to Santa Susanna, and take about 45 minutes, with shuttle buses running to the coast, as well as taxis and car hire. Taxis carry a maximum of 4 passengers (larger vehicles are available on request), with the fixed rate to Santa Susanna costing around 50 euros (40GBP). Car hire is available from the airport, and is recommended, being a great way to explore the delights of the Costa Brava.

Sunbathing - Santa Susanna
The main beach at the resort is a welcoming 2km stretch, with clean sand that slopes gently into the clear waters of the Mediterranean. The many convenient facilities here offer everything you need for a lazy day’s sunbathing, from sunbeds, umbrellas, showers, lifeguards and play areas, to bars, restaurants and shops along the promenade.
Activities - Calella de la Costa
Just 4km south of the resort, the lively centre of Calella de la Costa, with its extensive activities, is a short drive away. You can choose from a huge range of water sports, including jet skiing, banana boat rides and parasailing, and ensure that the children are constantly amused, thanks to playgrounds, beach games, and plenty of scheduled events.
Isloation - Cala Treumal
Travelling north along the coastline offers a number of tiny isolated spots, but for peaceful sunbathing in a lovely picturesque setting, head north to Blanes, and spend a day at Cala Treumal, an unspoilt beach that sits nestled in lush green pine forests, and displays plenty of natural Catalan charm.
Santa Susanna beaches are everything holiday makers could wish for from a beach in Spain. The locals love the 2Km stretch of golden sand as much as the holiday makers do, which is always a reassuring sign. There are plenty of water sports available and a few bars and restaurants near the beach area. For one of the Costa Brava’s most famous beach spots make the short journey to Malgrat de Mar.
The nightlife here includes some excellent bars and nightclubs that do open very late. However, Santa Susanna is not a party capital and music bars are a staple in the area. Holiday makers who prefer all night dancing and a massive selection of clubs and pubs should make the 20 minute journey to the party capital of Lloret de Mar.
One of the most famous cities in the Costa Brava is only a short jaunt from Santa Susanna. Lloret de Mar is a city awash with history, culture, amazing nightlife, first class restaurants and the ultimate in shopping. A few days will be needed to take in all Lloret de Mar has to offer including the fabulous Blue Flag beaches, markets, festivals and museums. Lloret de Mar is a great alternative to the laid back Santa Susanna.
Day trips from Santa Susanna are an excellent way to see all that the Costa Brava has to offer. Holiday makers should consider taking the short train journey to Barcelona, only 60km, to sample the city’s delights. Even if you’re not a football fan a trip around FC Barcelona’s Nou Camp is a great experience. Theme parks are a must to keep the children happy and can include the thrills of Waterworld, Aqualand and the children’s zoo. The National Park’s amazing scenery is a must for hikers, walkers and bike enthusiasts.
Santa Susanna’s old town area serves up some of the best traditional Spanish dishes in the area. There are a number of fantastic tapas restaurants if you fancy some authentic Spanish food.
