Moncarapacho Holidays

Moncarapacho Holidays – Country and coast, the perfect mix

To enjoy the rural life, with the aroma of oranges, lemons and figs in the air, but only a short drive to the gloriously warm water and soft sandy beaches of the Mediterranean, there can be no other choice than a holiday in Moncarapacho. This small country village in the Eastern Algarve exudes peacefulness and an unhurried ambience, where people go about their daily life in calm and friendly manner, or take a drink below the jacaranda and palm trees in the delightful cobbled square next to the village church.

This is the ideal spot for couples and families who prefer a quiet holiday not over-run with holidaymakers. Moncarapacho has all you need; three supermarkets, restaurants and cafes, a bank, a post office where you can send the postcards to make your friends envious, and an excellent market on the first Saturday of each month, (it even has a delightful pink, Moorish-style police station). The village is known for the quality of its ceramics and fine leather work for horses, and with the locality being a major producer of flowers, bright colours will fill your eye wherever you look.

If you feel the need to explore, Estoi, ten kilometres away, is another peaceful historic village, with some important Roman ruins and a beautiful 18th-century palace; an ideal day out to discover something of Portuguese local history. But you are also only a short drive to the glorious beaches of Eastern Algarve, less crowded and developed than their western neighbours.
