Wooden fishing boats are lined along some areas of Varca beach, and long houses with traditional palm-thatched roofs sit behind the dunes, home to the local fishing community. Numerous beach shacks offer delicious fish and seafood dishes at extremely reasonable prices, and Varca is home to some large 4 and 5 star hotels, which sit behind the beach amidst beautiful gardens and attractive surroundings.

The atmosphere in Varca is one of peace and tranquility, with most visitors content to relax on the magnificent beach and enjoy the beauty of the area. A great way to explore Varca and the surrounding area is by bike, and many people choose to rent bicycles on the beach and cycle along the sands. Dolphin-watching is extremely popular (the area is home to bottlenose dolphins), and a great way to experience them up close is on an early-morning cruise along the River Sal. Varca is just a few kilometers from Benaulim, a fast-developing resort offering numerous beach-front restaurants and luxury hotels.
