Key Largo Things To Do
Boat Trips
A fantastic way to get the most out of a Key Largo holiday, boating is the number one activity here. There are numerous trips to take, which offer wonderful views of the area, and include sailing charters, sunset cruises, casino cruises, glass-bottomed boat rides and airboat trips. Visitors can even take a ride on the original 'African Queen'.
Fishing
The area is known for its fantastic waters stocked with many types of fish, and a day out on the sea is a classic Keys experience. Key Largo offers a great choice of both private charters and sport fishing group tours, from half-day trips to all-day and even overnight excursions in search of grouper, kingfish, tuna and sailfish.
Scuba Diving
A major destination for divers, Key Largo is home to the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, the first underwater park in the USA. The diving is first-class and encompasses a host of reef sites, wrecks and tropical marine life, with Key Largo also being home to the iconic Christ of the Abyss statute - accessible to snorkelers as well.
Sports & Water Sports
An ideal setting for water sports, Key Largo offers facilities for paddle boating, jet skiing, kayaking, snorkelling and parasailing. On land, choose from tennis, golf and cycling.
Swimming with Dolphins
Swimming with dolphins is another popular activity in Key Largo, and there are facilities enabling visitors to swim freely with the animals and even be a trainer for the day, whilst learning about their behaviour and habitat. There are also snorkelling and diving tours in search of dolphins in the wild, and dolphin-watching boat trips. Marathon, further south, is home to a highly-regarded Dolphin Research Centre.
Nature
As well as the Coral Reef State Park, there's plenty of natural wilderness area to explore, and many wildlife sanctuaries and parks including Crane Point Hammock, the Botanical State Park, the Wild Bird Rehabilitation Centre, Parrot Sanctuary and, of course, the Everglades.
Days Out
Explore the Keys further with a trip to Islamorada, home to an artist’s village, or travel south to Key West to experience the famous sunsets. Head over the Everglades to explore the park, or travel to Miami for some vibrant nightlife.
