Cocoa Beach itself is a 6 mile long island with 12 miles of superb beaches and a marvellous climate. Holidays here feature one of Florida’s foremost attractions, the Kennedy Space Centre, a hugely entertaining and informative homage to NASA space exploration. Cocoa Beach also offers plenty for the wildlife enthusiast, the highlight being the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, a vast park featuring alligators, manatees and endangered species like the bald eagle and loggerhead turtle.
A great family base for Orlando
Cocoa Beach makes a superb characterful beach base from which to visit Orlando with its world-famous theme parks, amazing thrills and non-stop entertainment. Orlando is just an hour’s drive west of Cocoa Beach. As well as the beach and the Kennedy Space Centre, your holiday could also include visits to the US Astronaut Hall of Fame, a great zoo, fine cinemas and excellent bowling. Most trips to Cocoa Beach are simply not long enough to take full advantage of the myriad attractions in the region. Popular excursions include wildlife sanctuary boat trips, cruises, fishing trips and floating casinos that leave from nearby Port Canaveral.
