Abaco Islands Holidays

A slice of heaven
Escape from it all with a sun-kissed Abaco Islands holiday; a Caribbean paradise where life goes by at a leisurely pace. You will quickly unwind and forget your worries as the sheer beauty of the islands takes hold. Surrounded by warm Atlantic waters, Abaco is a long thin island archipelago lying off Florida's east coast - a short flight from Miami but a million miles from big city life. Coconut palms, awe-inspiring sunsets and romantic, deserted beaches form the basis of an Abaco Island holiday. You can truly find your own piece of heaven in this magical setting.

Discover an underwater world
Lying just off the Abaco Islands is the world's fourth largest barrier reef system offering some of the best shallow water diving in the Caribbean. The reef incorporates the underwater preserve of Pelican Bay National Park where the vividly coloured coral and abundant marine-life make for a stunning holiday experience. Combined with hundreds of tiny deserted islands, these protected seas provide some of world's safest and most rewarding diving, snorkelling and boating. The outer reefs have the added draw of sunken shipwrecks for the more serious diver.

Explore a beautiful tropical island
Staying on land has its own rewards on an Abaco Island holiday. The largest 'city' of Marsh Harbour has only one stoplight and is made up of pretty, vividly painted wooden houses. With only 15,000 residents, even this commercial hub is a tranquil spot for browsing boutique shops and dining out at the 'marina district'. However, the best way to explore is by boat as this opens up Abaco's numerous key islands all possessing their own unique charm and varied offerings from barbeques on the beach, cocktails served from shacks to luxury golf courses.

Weather in the Abaco Islands

Beach lovers will be in heaven with the stunning white beaches and high levels of sunshine in the Abaco Islands. June through October will bring the highest temperatures of 30C and this can be regularly exceeded. Humidity and rainfall levels are elevated during the summer months lasting from May through October. Rain will usually appear in the form of short shower bursts and any tropical storms will pass by quickly. Humidity levels are relatively high throughout the year but breezes will blow in from the ocean to temper the heat. Sunshine levels in the Abaco Islands are high all year round and eight hours of bright sunshine per day is the norm.
