Originally a picturesque fishing village located on Turkey’s south-western Aegean Coast, Ozdere has developed over the past 10 years or so into a popular holiday destination. The town itself looks over a calm azure bay and has around 9000 permanent inhabitants. A break in Ozdere is great for those who like to get out and explore the local area on their holidays. Anyone looking for a walking holiday in Turkey will find this a pleasant region to hike around, with an abundance of Mandarin groves, forests and Mediterranean countryside to explore. There are some superb historical sites to visit as well, including a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit Ephesus, an ancient Greek city at which one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Temple of Artemis, was built. While ideally cheap holidays in Ozdere would suit those on family holidays or mature couples (given its quiet and peaceful atmosphere) the cities of Kusadasi and Izmir are only a short bus ride away for young adults looking for a lively night out on the town. Having said this, the village is certainly not a clubbing destination so for large groups looking for clubbing holidays, setting up camp in Izmir or Marmaris would certainly be a better option.
