Izmir Things To Do

Beaches
There are plenty of beaches in the Izmir Region.  You can take you pick from Cesme and Foca, and many others too.  You can either top up your tan with a good book and a drink, or if you feel more active, try on of the water sports on offer.  Quiet, secluded beaches that are child friendly with shallow waters.  The sea is crystal clear and the sand is white! Wow… paradise!

Konak Square
Konak Meydani is the centre of Izmir city. Check out this bustling square which is mostly very busy during daytime hours.  This is because it’s the central location for government work, visa and law offices.

Turkish Baths
A trip to Izmir wouldn’t be complete without trying out the traditional Turkish Bath. Go on, treat yourself.  This is a great way to relax and clear out all the toxins. You could visit after a hard day shopping at the bazaar!  Quite a lot of the hotels in Izmir have their own Turkish Baths that you can pay to use, even if you are not staying there.  But there is also a public Turkish Bath that you can use as well.

Restaurants
Izmir is great if you want to go and sample some real Turkish restaurants.  Traditional food served at very reasonable prices, as well as all ranges of international restaurants to please everyone’s taste.  The lamb dishes or Izmir meatballs are a must have, also a great place to soak up some atmosphere.

Tours
There is an abundance of sightseeing tours available from Izmir. You can choose from a trip to Pammukale and Hierapolis to view the amazing petrified lime cascades to the Jewish Sites in Sardis. Don’t miss a chance to wander through the Roman and Christian ruins of Ephesus or tour the 4th century BC Alexander Castle on Pagos Hill.
 
Nightlife
Izmir is the largest city in Turkey, so you won’t be surprised that the nightlight is happening.  There are plenty of bars and clubs if you want to party the night away.  This is a thriving place and you can pretty much find anything to suit your tastes.  There is also a huge option of restaurants if you want a romantic holiday, with wining and dining.
