Gocek Holidays
Gocek holidays – A classy destination for mellow holidays
Set against the beautiful blue Bay of Skopea, nestled into the shoulder of rich deep green hills, Gocek holidays are popular with Turkish and foreign visitors, celebrities and the jet-set. Particularly famous for its marvellous world-class yachting and six marinas, it’s set like a little jewel between the popular resorts of Dalyan and Fethiye. Strict development rules mean the gorgeous natural setting is protected: no high rise hotels, just a pretty red-roofed village that’s home to 4,500 or so people.
The legendary Icarus landed at Gocek after his ill-fated flight, and the resort’s many secluded coves and twelve islands make for a very special holiday destination. You’ll enjoy a choice of exciting boat tours, plenty of entertainment, great food, bars, cafes and trips to nearby historic and cultural treats at Dalyan, Fethiye, Tlos, Pınara, Letoon, Xanthos and Patara. The perfect Turkey destination for couples and families, if you’re a party animal Gocek will probably be a bit too quiet!
When to go to Gocek
You can visit Gocek any time of year and the resort is always popular with sailors and yacht owners. But the incredibly hot peak summer season means people who prefer to be active on their holidays tend to choose holidays to Gocek at either end of the hottest part of the summer. May and late September are a little cooler, although still absolutely glorious! Despite the heat, the busiest months are July and August, during the school summer holidays, and that’s when it’s the most expensive. Luckily the weather is so good that it’s equally lovely outside the main summer season, as early as April and as late as October.

Airport and transport need to know
This mini Turkish paradise lies just 11 miles from the incredibly smart airport at Dalaman (DLM) and a new-ish road means transfer times are faster than ever. You can fly to Dalaman airport direct from right across Britain, from major London, Scottish and Irish airports plus regional airports like East Midlands, Doncaster-Sheffield, Bournemouth and Bristol. The airport is very well equipped and there are plenty of shops and eateries on-site.
Most package deals come with transfers included but if not, you can pick up a yellow cab outside the airport – remember to set a price first. The local buses run from the bus station six miles from the airport. With a transfer time of around half an hour, you can get aboard a shuttle service for approximately £17 each return, or a pre-booked private taxi for 1-4 people for £140 per vehicle return. They drive on the right in Turkey but the locals would be the first to admit that they love driving fast, so exercise caution!
