Bangkok Weather

Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, is located on the country's south coast and sits on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, near the Gulf of Thailand. The city enjoys a tropical climate, with hot and humid weather all year round. The best time to visit is between November and April, therefore avoiding the region's rainy season, which runs from May to October.

Winter in Bangkok sees very limited rainfall - just 8mm during the driest month of January - and pleasant average temperatures ranging from 26C - 29C, thanks to the influence of the northeast monsoon and its passing cooling breezes. There are between 8 - 9 hours of sun each day, and the humidity level is at its most tolerable, making conditions good for sightseeing in the city during this time. The period from March to May sees very hot humid weather, with average temperatures of 30C, sometimes rising to a maximum of 35C, and this period sees fewer hours of sun each day. May experiences an increase in rainfall, with Bangkok receiving an average of 182mm during the month. 

 

Bangkok experiences a southwest monsoon from May to November, and this rainy season sees short showers each day, mainly in the afternoon. The rainiest period is between August and October, with the wettest month of September seeing almost 300mm of rain. The weather is still very hot, reaching an average of 27C - 28C, and the humidity levels remain very high throughout the monsoon.
