Weather in Thailand
Boasting a tropical climate that has consistent high temperatures year round Thailand weather falls into three main seasons; a hot and dry springtime, a wet season from June to October and dry cooler weather which lasts from November to February. Daytime temperatures rarely drop below 30C at any time of the year and indeed can reach a sweltering 35C during spring. Thankfully, Thailand is blessed with many interesting places at altitude in the north of the country giving much needed relief from the heat and humidity. The hottest months of April and May give way to incoming south west monsoon winds bringing warm, humid air and cloud from the Indian Ocean. June onwards sees rainfall which can be prolonged at times and accompanied high humidity. With 5 or 6 hours of sunshine usual at this time of year a beach holiday can still be enjoyed to the full in established resorts. Average daytime temperatures are high at 30C even during the wettest months of June and July. North Thailand weather is cooler and more pleasant with lush forests and hillsides rich in flora and fauna. Rainfall is possible at any time but the winter months from November to February are generally dry with up to 9 hours of sunshine each day. Thailand's weather has some variations in winter with the northern regions experiencing some cloud cover and rainfall. A consistent temperature of 30C with fresh, cool breezes and clear waters make this an ideal time to visit for divers and sunbathers alike. Air quality is at its best with reduced humidity.
