Switzerland Holidays
Summer in the mountain sunshine
The spectacular mountains and lakes in Switzerland attract holidaymakers from all over Europe and the world throughout spring, summer and autumn with fantastic hiking and cycling opportunities as well as picturesque traditional mountain villages.
Spectacular scenery
Switzerland enjoys a unique diversity of landscapes with three distinct geographical areas. The Jura Mountains in the north are a treasure trove of hidden caves, stunning gorges and historical landmarks such as the Fort de Joux, making them a fantastic choice for walking and cycling holidays throughout the summer months. The Central Plateau, running through the middle of Switzerland, is home to the country’s largest city, Zurich, as well several other of Switzerland’s most popular city break destinations including Bern, Geneva and Lausanne. The Swiss Alps, in the south of Switzerland are world-renowned for their spectacular scenery throughout the year with the lush green mountains providing awe-inspiring views over the glittering Swiss lakes during the summer and turning into a bed of fresh white snow during the winter. This makes the Swiss Alps perfect for lakes and mountains holidays as well as top-class skiing breaks.
Weather in Switzerland
The weather in Switzerland varies greatly across the distinct geographical regions but is generally characterised by a temperate climate. Temperatures range from highs in the mid-twenties throughout the highly populated Central Plateau and the Canton of Ticino from June to August to lows of -10C in the mountainous regions in December and January. Switzerland’s diverse weather allows for the huge range of activities that can be enjoyed here throughout the year.
