Job Title: Product Manager – Mainstream Beach & Ski
Reporting to: Head of Product & Commercial

Job Purpose:
To ensure the company achieves maximum yield with the optimum level of sales through all channels across all product types. The Product Manager is accountable and responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of a product from defining and shaping the requirements, through to product delivery, ongoing development and enhancements and achievement of profit targets.

Main Responsibilities:

 Product Management and Development:
• Produce a product development strategy for the year ahead, including the destinations already featured, potential new destinations, existing product types and new product opportunities.
• Analyse & take action on product search and booking stats.  Use the data to produce a strategy for the year ahead
• Produce and analyse stats detailed at product level to use when planning product strategy
• ‘Hand-Pick’ product where applicable, specific to the geographical areas of responsibility
•  Identify properties that require enhancement of content and images, write copy and source images for all websites affected
• Responsible for the analysis and action taken on brochure data stat’s for 3rd party tour operator product
• Develop the breadth of product on all directline websites relevant to the geographical areas of responsibility
• Identify new destinations, supplier requirements and make a proposal to introduce to the relevant websites
• Identify new target markets and make a proposal for distribution to them taking into account any challenges faced
• Assist the Trading Analyst where required with competitor analysis (product & price) and any remedial action necessary

Product Supplier Management:
• Identify new potential suppliers and make a proposal for their integration
• Carry out price and product comparisons of existing and new suppliers taking the necessary actions
• Manage the day to day relationship with suppliers in your product area of responsibility
• Carry out accommodation inspections when required

Offers/Promotions & Advertising
• Assist the Trading Analyst where required on the set up and management of offers with suppliers, internally and on all directline websites
• Assist the Trading Analyst in the compilation of weekly press releases
• Assist the Trading Analyst in the compilation of offers to feature in email communications to the database

Directline Websites
• Manage the costing failure rates across all websites working closely with suppliers to ensure fixes are in place as quickly as possible
• Manage, spec and test developments that will have a benefit to the department and overall business
• Dealing with questions/enquiries from other departments relating to product & failed booking attempts

General:
• Produce a file containing the health & safety policies of all DP suppliers along with a cover document outlining the company requirements
• Manage questions and enquiries from other departments relating to Product
• Assist with general website monitoring and maintenance when required
• Liaise with all other departments to help improve processes and reduce complaints and problems
• Produce training material and provide training when required
• Assist with the set up of new directline brands
• Promote in-house tour operation products internally, working with the Sales Manager & Training Manager to encourage optimum sales
• Management of Product Executive workload, productivity and motivation
• Work towards achieving the company’s targets for sales volume and yield management

Requirements:
• Experience and proven ability in a Product Management role within the travel industry. Ideally gained from within a dynamic online travel business
• Product management experience in Ski and Mainstream beach holidays essential
• Experience in managing supplier relationships
• Experience of working with suppliers connecting through API/XML feeds (technical knowledge not required)
• Numerate, analytical and proficient with excel
• Methodical approach with an excellent attention to detail
• ‘Can do’ attitude and approach
• Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written
• Able to multitask, manage workload and prioritise
• Ability to adhere to strict deadlines
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
• Experience in people management
• Confident and proactive approach to technology development
• Excellent knowledge of competitor activities and the travel industry

Job Title: Trading Analyst

Job Purpose:
To ensure the company achieves maximum yield with the optimum level of sales through all channels across all product types.

Main Responsibilities:      

Analysis:
• Implement a cost effective and efficient competitor analysis solution and process
• Carry out ongoing competitor analysis against price, product & presentation.  Present analysis and recommendations in a weekly report taking into account factors impacting supply, demand and yield
• Implement price change recommendations using the pricing tool for each website
• Following approval of product & presentation recommendations implement necessary changes
• Produce, analyse and circulate stats tracking any changes made to show the effect on sales levels, margins and the position against competitors in the market place
• Continually monitor trends and future demand in order to maximise revenue and opportunities
• Identifying business trends by channel and take these into account when proposing strategy
• Assist with business forecasting on volume and revenue by destination through pricing strategy
• Identify and highlight in weekly report the requirements of directional sales to control the volume driven to maximise commercial terms with suppliers

Tactical offers and promotions:
• Manage the set up of offers with suppliers, internally and on all directline websites
• Manage the research and preparation of content for weekly press releases
• Manage in conjunction with the Product Managers the preparation of offers to feature in email communications to the database

Product:
• Make recommendations to Product Managers on new suppliers or product to be looked into and potentially selected for inclusion on the websites.
• Proactive approach in obtaining special offers from tour operators and other partners, particularly exclusives.

General:

1. Invoices and Credit Notes

a. Maintain the process for payments of accounts to ensure that the company meets its obligations as they fall due, complies with its payment policy and secures discounts where applicable.

c. Prepare cheques for payment.

2. Maintain and Check Ledgers, Statements and Accounts

b. Reconcile payments made to the amount allocated to the reservation system with full explanations

3. Customer Enquiries

a.  Respond to supplier enquiries and complaints, by telephone, or in writing, after having checked the relevant facts from existing records.
b. Ensure that any queries are resolved, in line with company policy.
c.  Inform the Accounts Supervisor about any persistent problems.

4. Administration

a.  Undertake routine administration to ensure procedures such as assisting with filing and opening post.
