Ronda Holidays
Holidays in Ronda – Breathtaking mountain resort
Ronda is one of the most historic and breathtaking towns in Spain; Spaniards actually refer to Ronda as The City of Dreams. This is one of Spain’s oldest towns dating back to the 9th century BC. With its dramatic mountain scenery, gothic architecture and 150m Tajo gorge it’s not hard to see why Ronda is the top tourist attraction in Andalucia. Nature lovers will be in heaven as Ronda is located within easy access of national parks such as Los Alcornocales where you can enjoy horse riding, cycling and tour the Neolithic caves.
Ronda is an incredibly romantic town much loved by couples, and when night falls the winding little streets become alive with scores of traditional tavernas and restaurants; flamenco shows are a nightly occurrence here. Wine tasting tours in cities such as Seville and the glamorous beaches of Marbella can also be enjoyed during holidays in Ronda.
When to go
If you are looking for a more tranquil Ronda then visit during the spring and autumn months when the orange trees are in bloom and the weather is warm rather than hot. The summer months can be very hot and incredibly busy with day trippers who arrive from the Costa del Sol beach resorts and more than double Ronda’s population. Spring and autumn are comfortably warm seasons in which to enjoy the many sports that this area is famous for and are a good time to pick up lower rates on flights and accommodation.
The weather in Ronda
Ronda does have long hot summers but is usually cooler than the Costa del Sol beach resorts thanks to its location of over 600m above sea level. Daytime summer temperatures will usually head over 30C but the evenings will be pleasantly warm at around 17C. Spring and autumn are both warm seasons with temperatures of around 18C to 21C but there may be a chance of short afternoon showers. Although there will still be plenty of sunshine during the winter, the temperature will drop to 13C and there will occasionally be snow on the surrounding mountains.
