Airport and Transport Need to Know
Puerto Banus is a popular destination and there are direct flights from most UK city airports all year round. Flight time is approximately three hours and flights touchdown at Malaga Airport (AGP), which provides restaurants, bars, duty free shopping, currency exchange and car rental. Transfer time from Malaga Airport to Puerto Banus should be 45 minutes. Trains, buses and unmetered taxis are available at Terminal 3; taxi prices should be arranged with the driver and will be approximately 75 euros (£60) per car.
Independently booking a shuttlebus or car online 24 hours before arriving is a good option with fares of 23 euros (£19) per person. Self-drive is another convenient option if you wish to explore Costa del Sol. Cars can be booked independently online with prices starting at around 85 euros (£70) per week. The main roads are in excellent condition and driving is on the right.
The best beaches in Puerto Banus
Puerto Banus is famed for its immense beautiful beaches and boasts 24 beaches over its 27km of coastline. The beaches here are generally fine grey sand but there also golden and white sand beaches along this coastline. The sea waters are exceptionally clean and clear, and many of the beaches have been awarded the European Blue Flag. Puerto Banus has it all whether you want a family friendly beach or a buzzing beach with parties that last throughout the night.
A day spent on shaded sun loungers by the Mediterranean Sea waters can be found at Mistral Beach. This relaxed beach can be lively and does provide plenty of watersports including jet skiing, banana boats and wake boarding. The beach club is the place for lunch and of course jugs of ice cold sangria or a beer. This is the perfect beach on which to chill out during the day and is popular with couples simply looking to relax.
For a beach with a vibrant party atmosphere head to Buddha Beach. The reason for the party atmosphere is the nearby Sala Beach Club, one of the hottest clubs in the area, which boasts a spa, pools, VIP area, restaurant and bars. This is the place for live music, dancing into the night and beach parties, and it does attract a young party loving crowd.
It can be hard to escape the crowds but for a secluded beach where you can simply relax in a peaceful atmosphere head west to El Saladillo in Estepona. This beach and the beaches along this stretch of coastline are rarely troubled by crowds and mainly known only by the locals. There are still a few facilities nearby such as the seafood restaurant at Pepe’s Beach but the many little coves and bays here are ideal for isolation and relaxation.
