A 10 minute drive from Guadalmina will take you to the upmarket resort of Puerto Banus or the secluded beaches of Estepona; within five minutes you can be in the vibrant town of San Pedro de Alcantara. Guadalmina is also a haven for golf lovers with its first class golf courses. Guadalmina holidays offer a diversity of accommodation options including luxury villas with pools and self-catering apartments, all within a few minutes’ walk of the many bars, restaurants and cafes.

Spring and autumn are two excellent seasons that still provide plenty of warmth and also bring discounted prices on flights and accommodation. The golf courses in Guadalmina are a major attraction and this sport can be enjoyed all year round thanks to the weather. If you do prefer warm rather than hot weather and a quieter atmosphere then consider the low season months during spring, autumn and winter.

 

The weather in Guadalmina

You can expect long hot summers in Guadalmina with daytime temperatures reaching 30C and over during July and August; evening temperatures will be a pleasant 20C. Rainfall is rare during the summer months and will usually only appear from November through March. Spring and autumn are beautiful seasons with warm 20C temperatures and swimming is an option during both of these seasons. Winters will be slightly cooler at 17C during December but there will still be plenty of warm sunshine in which to enjoy a round of golf.

 

Getting the best deal to Guadalmina

Booking in advance is advisable if you are looking for good deals during the busiest summer months of July and August or during school holiday periods such as Easter and October. Spring and autumn are the best times to pick up the low season prices offered by hotels and private villa owners; flights are also inexpensive during the low season months. Discounted rates can also be found during the winter although the festive season is another popular time.

Airport and transport need to know

Direct flights are available all year round from most UK city airports to Malaga Airport (AGP). The flight time to Malaga is approximately three hours and the airport provides facilities such as bars, restaurants, currency exchange and car rental. Transfer time to Guadalmina will be just under one hour; taxi fares will be approximately 76 euros (£61) per car. Trains, buses and taxis depart from Terminal 3 and taxi fares should be agreed with the driver before departing.

 

Independently booking a private shuttle online is a good option and fares will be approximately 20 euros (£16) per person based on four sharing. Car hire is another convenient and economical option and rental cars can be independently booked online with fares starting at approximately 90 euros (£72) per week. Car hire is a great option for exploring Costa del Sol and the main roads are in excellent condition with driving on the right.

 

The best beaches in Guadalmina

You are definitely spoilt for choice with the diversity of beaches available on a Guadalmina holiday. Costa del Sol is famed for its beautiful, unspoilt beaches and clean sea waters. Many of the beaches have been awarded the European Blue Flag status and provide additional safety features such as lifeguards. Choose a beach to suit your mood whether that is an isolated beach on which to relax or a lively resort beach with a range of watersports.

 

A 10 minute drive will take you to the fabulous secluded beaches at Estepona. This stretch of coastline is home to beautiful coves and bays that hold hidden gems such as El Saladillo. This beach is a favourite with the locals but is rarely busy even during the height of summer. There is one beach bar serving the freshest seafood and the warm waters are ideal for swimming and snorkelling.

 

Guadalmina Beach is located in San Pedro only a few minutes from Guadalmina. This beach has held its Blue Flag status for 20 years and is one of the best beaches to enjoy watersports such as jet skiing, windsurfing and sailing. There are numerous bars, restaurants and cafeterias along the seafront and a golf course is located nearby if you fancy a round before or after sunbathing.

 

Puerto Banus is one of the liveliest resorts on the Costa del Sol but try Buddha Beach for a more relaxed atmosphere on which to grab a sun lounger and enjoy a cool drink. Watersports are also available at this beach, and the nearby beach club is a great option for meals and drinks throughout the day and late into the evening.
