The weather in Bubion
Sunshine is pretty much guaranteed in Bubion for much of the year. The long hot summer months will see daytime temperatures creeping up to and over 30C while the evenings will be a warm 18C. The spring and autumn months are warm at around 22C but don’t be surprised if the temperature heads closer to 30C during May and October. Rainfall is minimal during the year; very rare during the summer and usually only appearing from November through March. Winters will be chillier with snow seen on the surrounding mountains although sunshine will usually break through during the winter days.

Airport and transport need to know
Malaga Airport (AGP) is the most popular arrival point when holidaying in Bubion. Granada Airport (GRX) is closer but flights from the UK will be limited. Flights to Malaga depart from most UK city airports all year round with a flight time of approximately three hours. Transfer from Malaga Airport to Bubion will be approximately 2hrs 30mins. Trains, buses and taxis depart from Terminal 3; taxis are unmetered and fares should be agreed with the driver.
Taxi fares to Bubion can be expensive at around 180 euros (£144) per car. Trains and buses do run from Malaga to Granada where a bus can be taken to Bubion. Car hire is one of the most inexpensive and convenient options with rental costs of approximately 90 euros per week (£72). Independently booking hire cars online is an option or cars can be rented at Malaga airport; the major roads are in good condition with driving on the right.
The best beaches in Bubion
The beauty of a Bubion holiday is that you are simply a short 45 minute drive from the coastal beaches. Costa de Almeria and Costa del Sol contain some of the most beautiful and unspoilt beaches in Spain. Many of the fine, grey sand beaches have been awarded the European Blue Flag status for cleanliness, water quality and the surrounding scenery. The coastline is home to family friendly beaches, lively beach resorts and many secluded coves and bays.
Playa Poniente in Motril is a large family friendly beach that is one of the best for watersports such as jet skiing, water skiing, scuba diving and sailing. If you wish to keep your feet on dry land then have a round of golf at the nearby 9-hole course or enjoy some delicious food and drink at any of the restaurants, bars and cafeterias along the seafront promenade.
Playa Puerta del Mar is one of the most popular and striking looking beaches in Almunecar. This long beach attracts families and a younger crowd thanks to its proximity to the town centre and range of facilities including sun loungers, watersports and beachside bars. The views over the Mediterranean Sea are stunning and you will want to linger here later to witness the amazing sunset.
The stretch of several beaches at Salobrena is the place to be if you are looking for a secluded beach from which to escape the crowds. These beaches sometimes become busy during the summer months, especially with the locals, but for much of the year they are deserted. Salobrena beaches provide amazing views of the Sierra Nevada mountains and there are a few beach bars where you can enjoy the view while having a drink or snack.
