The unspoilt, sun drenched beaches of the Costa del Sol are a mere one hour’s drive from Benaojan. The beaches along this coastline are regarded as some of the best in Spain, if not Europe. Blue Flag awarded resort beaches rub shoulders with secluded coves and bays, and the warm Mediterranean waters are ideal for snorkelling and scuba diving. Most of the beaches feature fine grey sand but there are also many golden beaches to enjoy along the coast.

San Pedro is one of the first resorts you will arrive at when driving from Benaojan. Playa San Pedro de Alacantra stretches over 3Km and is favoured by families due to the shallow waters, children’s entertainment and beach restaurants. This is the ideal place to rent a sun lounger, soak in the sun or enjoy some watersports. If you visit on a Thursday you can buy some hand crafted goods at the nearby market.

You will not want to miss the chance to enjoy the beaches at Puerto Banus, and Mistral Beach is one of the best for watersports. This is a popular beach from which you can try jet skiing, water skiing, scuba diving and of course riding the banana boats. Stay a little later in Puerto Banus to find out why this resort ranks as having the best nightlife in Spain.

To escape the busy beaches, head east to the beaches of Puerto de la Duquesa.  La Duquesa is one of the Costa del Sol’s hidden secrets and holds miles of unspoilt and uncrowded sandy beaches. After a day on the beach you can visit the marina, take in a round of golf or sample some delicious food and drink at the many restaurants and bars along the promenade.
