Airport and transport need to know

Benahavis is served by Malaga Airport (AGP) with a quick transfer time of around 40 minutes. Direct flights to Malaga are available year round from most major UK city airports; flight time is approximately three hours. Malaga Airport provides restaurants, bars, duty free shopping and car hire facilities. Buses and taxis depart from Terminal 3; taxis are unmetered and fares should be arranged with drivers prior to departing.

 

Taxi fare from Malaga Airport to Benahavis will be approximately 85 euros (£68) per car. Independently booking a private transfer online will result in transfer fares of approximately 44 euros (£36) per person. Buses from Malaga bus station to Benahavis are regular at a cost of around 6 euros (£4). Independently booking car hire online is a convenient and low cost option; the main roads in Malaga are good with driving on the right.

 

The best beaches in Benahavis

Benahavis is located just 15 minutes from the best Costa del Sol beaches. This coastline is famous throughout Europe as having some of the most unspoilt and beautiful beaches along with one of the best climates in which to enjoy them. Many of the beaches have been awarded the European Blue Flag status for cleanliness, facilities and the stunning scenery. Family friendly beaches, secluded coves and lively resort beaches are all just a short drive from Benahavis.

 

Puerto Banus is perhaps one of the most famous Costa del Sol resorts and boasts beaches to suit all tastes. If you are looking for a family friendly beach with a relaxed atmosphere head to Levante Beach, which is the perfect place to grab a sun bed and take shade under one of the many palm trees. The waters are very shallow here and lifeguards are in attendance during the summer. The seafront has many beach bars and restaurants for a quick snack or cool drink.

 

Linda Vista, meaning ‘beautiful view’, is one of the best beaches in San Pedro de Alcantara for watersports enthusiasts. Jet skiing and windsurfing are available and the exceptionally clear waters are ideal for snorkelling. This is a very clean pale sand beach and does have facilities such as sun loungers, lifeguards and beach clubs.

 

For a spot of isolation on secluded beaches head to the Artola Cabopino sand dunes, which is a designated protected natural area. This immense stretch of sand is remote although only a short drive east of Marbella and right next door to Calahonda. This is the place to escape the crowds and simply relax in the peaceful atmosphere. There is little in the way of facilities to spoil the atmosphere and naturists do use this beach area.
