Airport and transfer need to know in Aguadulce

Aguadulce is served by Almeria Airport (LEI) and there are direct flights year round from the most major city airports including London Gatwick, Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham, Newcastle and Bristol. Almeria Airport provides excellent facilities after your four hour flight including a bar, restaurant, duty free shops and cafeteria.

 

Transfer time by metered taxi or shuttle bus is a mere 30 to 40 minutes. Taxis are of high quality, metered and the approximate price to Aguadulce will be 19 euro (£15).

 

If you prefer the self-drive car hire option whilst in Aguadulce the prices are inexpensive, the roads are in excellent condition and driving is on the right hand side. There is also a bus service from the Airport to Almeria city centre bus and train station that runs every 30 minutes from 7am to 10pm with bus fares priced at 0.85 euro (£0.70).

 

The best beaches in Aguadulce

Aguadulce is located in the Costa de Almeria, which is well regarded as having some of the most unspoilt beaches in Europe. The immense stretches of golden sand shelve gently into shallow waters and most of the beaches in this region have been awarded the European Blue Flag status for cleanliness.

 

Aguadulce has 2.5km of beach providing plenty of space to relax even during the popular high season summer months, and this is one of the most popular and lively beaches. This is also one of the best beaches for sunbathing and activities; the calm, clear waters are perfect for snorkelling under the watchful eyes of experienced lifeguards. Watersports facilities are available at the nearby marina including scuba diving, wind surfing and jet skiing. The beach is backed by a palm tree lined promenade that features shops, cafeterias, restaurants and bars.

 

One of the prettiest beaches located 4km from Aguadulce can be found at Roquetas de Mar. This fine sand beach is very popular with families and it exudes a relaxed, gentle atmosphere; the perfect place to simply relax on sun loungers and enjoy the peace away from the more lively beaches. If you wish to enjoy some activities there are watersports facilities available and there is a water park, go karting and aquarium nearby to keep the children entertained.

 

No visit to Aguadulce would be complete without taking a trip to sample the breath-taking beach at Playa de los Muertos; the translation means Beach of the Dead. This beach near the town of Carboneras has been voted by Spaniards as the best beach in Spain and is comparable to beaches found in the Caribbean. This white sand beach, backed by volcanic cliffs, is well hidden and is perfect if you are looking for isolation. There are no facilities at this beach and naturism is permitted here.
