When to go to Torrent

The tourist season in the Costa Brava runs from May to October, with these months seeing the finest weather, and the best conditions for a holiday to Torrent. The hot sunny weather is perfect for days on the beach, with the warm evenings ideal for alfresco dining in the local tapas bars and restaurants. Peak season can be busy, however, with very high temperatures, as well as high prices, so it’s best to travel before or after July and August if you can. June and September still see excellent weather in the Costa Brava, and May and October, with their cooler temperatures, can offer great conditions for sightseeing and outdoor activities.

Best beaches in Torrent

The town offers a scenic country base, and thanks to its location just a few kilometres away from the coast, the sandy beaches of the Costa Brava are well within reach. There are quieter less developed tourist resorts located along the rugged shoreline, with welcoming Blue Flag beaches, as well as hidden rocky coves that offer real peace and quiet. Here are our picks for the best three in the Torrent area.

Best beach for sunbathing – Playa de Canadell

Just a short trip from Torrent, Playa de Canadell, the main beach at Palafrugell, is the longest in the resort, and is the perfect spot on which to lie back and soak up the glorious Spanish sunshine. This picturesque beach offers the ultimate in relaxation, boasting lovely clean sands and clear blue seas, and a truly beautiful setting.

Best beach for activities – Playa de Llafranc

Just north of Calella de Palafrugell, the rather exclusive resort of Llafranc is the perfect spot for a host of activities, and is an easy day trip from the town. If you do get tired of lying on the sun lounger or swimming in the blue waters of the Mediterranean, you can indulge in energetic pursuits as windsurfing, sailing, snorkelling or scuba diving.

Best beach for isolation – Playa de Tamariu

This unspoilt village has retained its traditional charm and character, and offers a peaceful sandy beach on one of the most sheltered bays along the coast. The dramatic cliffs and dense pine forests accentuate the secluded nature of this beach, making it a haven for secluded sunbathing.
