The best time to go to any resort on Costa Brava is during its tourist season, from May to October. As Playa de Pals is a family resort, you’ll need to book early for the school holidays, and be prepared for crowded beaches and high prices in mid-July and August. If you can travel during the low-season, it’ll be much quieter in Playa de Pals, and cheaper, too, with June and September still seeing beach weather, with plenty of sunshine, and the cooler days in May and October meaning great conditions for outdoor sports and activities, and sightseeing trips.

Airport and Transport Need to Know
Flights to Playa de Pals are via Gerona Airport (GRO) - just a 2-2.5 journey from the UK. There are plenty of departures from all the country’s regional airports, including London Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, Manchester, East Midlands, Birmingham, Cardiff, Bristol, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool, Newcastle, Glasgow and Prestwick. Gerona Airport is a small airport that serves the whole region, and is located 50km from Playa de Pals.
Transfers are included on a package holiday to Playa de Pals, and take about 1 hour, with shuttle bus, taxis and car hire also available. Taxis carry a maximum of 4 passengers (larger vehicles are available on request), with the fixed rate to Playa de Pals costing around 60 euros (50GBP). Car hire is available from the airport, and is recommended as a great way to get out and explore the surrounding area.

Best beach for activities – Playa de Pals
Located on a horseshoe-shaped bay, the long sandy beach in the resort is the main attraction here, and offers the perfect spot for both sunbathing and more adventurous pursuits. Summer winds in the bay make conditions ideal for surfing, windsurfing and kite surfing, and there are snorkelling and diving trips out to the Isles Medes.
