Llafranc Holidays – Enjoy an upmarket getaway on Spain’s rugged ‘Wild Coast’

Llafranc holidays can really fit the bill if you're looking for a more exclusive resort on Spain's Costa Brava, in a quiet picturesque setting. It's a world away from wild party resorts such as Lloret de Mar, and offers a real hidden gem along this charming Spanish coastline. An upmarket destination, popular with wealthy Spanish tourists, Llafranc boasts an authentic Catalan charm and a cosmopolitan atmosphere, making it an ideal choice for families and couples in search of somewhere different for their relaxed Mediterranean holiday. Llafranc has everything you need for a laid-back week or two in the sun - a sandy beach, great for sunbathing and swimming, a harbour, promenade and a delightful town centre, with a traditional village square and a host of cosy bars and restaurants, so days can be spent lying by the beach or pool, with the balmy evenings ideal for alfresco dining on the waterfront.

The best beaches in Llafranc

The beaches of the Costa Brava are the main attraction on any holiday to Llafranc, and there's plenty of choice along the coastline, from golden Blue Flag sands to hidden rocky coves, perfect for snorkelling. The resort has a wonderful beach, but it's always worth getting out and exploring the local area, as you never know what you'll come across on Spain's 'Wild Coast'. Here are our picks for the best three beaches in and around Llafranc:

Best beach for sunbathing - Playa de Llafranc

Llafranc's main beach sits in a delightful horseshoe-shaped bay, backed by pine forests, and offers a truly idyllic spot for a day in the sunshine. From snoozing on clean golden sands and soaking in the calm crystal-clear waters, to watching the fishing boats and sleek yachts bobbing up and down in the marina, Playa de Llafranc boasts a beautifully picturesque base.

Best beach for activities - Playa de Canadell

As an alternative to water sports at the well-equipped town beach, why not head 3km north to Palafrugell and the laid-back Playa de Canadell, to try your hand at sailing or kayaking around the stunning coves and inlets of the central Costa Brava.

Best beach for isolation - Playa de Tamariu

Travel just a few kilometres north to the beach at Tamariu, between Palafrugell and Begur, and immerse yourself in the seclusion of this isolated stretch - a welcome change from busier spots along the coast. It's much quieter than other local beaches, thanks to the lack of development in the resort, with the sheltered south-facing bay that nestles in lush pine-clad cliffs offering a wonderfully picturesque setting.
