Pinosol is a quiet residential area of the attractive family resort of Javea. Quality hotels, smart apartments and stylish villas remain blissfully calm even in the busy summer season. Javea is a working fishing town with great beaches, a lovely seafront promenade, a stylish marina and a well-preserved medieval old town. It shares with neighbouring Denia a reputation for quality restaurants. Summer season nightlife is enjoyably Spanish in style. You can combine beach relaxation with good coast paths, scenic boat trips and family attractions like Mundomar and Aqualandia.
When to go
The Pinosol area of Javea remains a relaxing place to stay during the busy holiday months of July and August. The peak summer sees Javea enjoyably lively with Spanish visitors. There are far fewer people in June and September. A very peaceful atmosphere in late summer and early autumn when the weather remains good.
Spring is an especially rewarding time and is particularly recommended if you wish to walk coast paths and explore the Montgo National Park. Lots of bright sunshine and very few people on local beaches. Pinosol holidays in mid-June and early September will coincide with entertaining local fiestas. Quality dining and mild weather attract winter visitors.
The weather in Pinosol
This part of the Costa Blanca has an idyllic climate. Guaranteed sunshine during the main beach holiday season from June to September. July and August see average highs around 30º. Sometimes a little hotter. Coastal breezes help freshen the atmosphere. Summer evenings temperatures of 20º are made for romantic outdoor dining. June and September are a degree or two cooler but just as sunny.
Spring is warm enough for sunbathing and is much better for golf, horse riding, coast walks and excursions. 20º or more is normal in May. Winters are very mild and you can still expect an average 5 hours a day of sunshine.
Getting the best deal
Pinosol villas and apartments soon fill up in July and August. The whole Denia Javea region has a reputation for quality tourism and attracts discerning Spanish holidaymakers as well as British visitors. Easter is also popular. For cheaper holidays to Pinosol try June and September.
Pinosol holidays tend to pricier than cheap and cheerful resorts like Benidorm but you should find good deals in spring and early autumn, when Javea is especially relaxing and beaches are blissfully quiet. Airport and transport need to know
Alicante (ALC) is the usual arrival airport for package holidays to Pinosol. Also easy to reach from Valencia (VLC) Both are large airports with plenty of shops and restaurants. Valencia has low-cost flights from the UK but you will find a far greater choice of departure airport with Alicante. Average flight time to Alicante and Valencia is 2 hours 30 minutes.
Transfers to Pinosol from Alicante and Valencia will take about an hour. Several private shuttle companies offer competitive prices. A taxi from Alicante should cost about €90 (₤74). A bit more from Valencia. To go by bus you have to get to Alicante or Valencia city centre. Buses take 2-3 hours and cost €11(₤9). A simple drive by motorway from both Alicante and Valencia.
There is a good bus service to beach resort neighbours like Calpe and Denia. The nicest way to travel locally is by boat.
The best beaches near Pinosol
Pinosol is perfectly placed for the most varied and picturesque coastline on the entire Costa Blanca. 15 miles of restrained development and lots of unspoilt coves if you want to escape the summer crowds. Javea beaches are renowned for their crystal clear water.
Beaches are very clean and offer considerable variety. Town centre beaches have plenty of affordable restaurants and well maintained showers and changing rooms. Quieter coves with fewer facilities offer greater seclusion and superb snorkelling. Resorts have a genuine Spanish atmosphere. Beaches exist alongside fishing fleets, and old town centres have plenty of character and historical interest. Neighbouring beaches are easily accessed on local buses.
Pinosol is well placed for Playa Arenal, the best sandy beach in Javea town centre. Gently shelving sand is good for kids and ideal for relaxed swimming. Sunbeds and umbrellas for hire. A good collection of restaurants includes excellent fish restaurants and authentic tapas bars. The seafront promenade is particularly attractive and is enjoyably animated in season.
Playa Benissero offers more space in peak summer. This mile-long stretch of fine pale shingle also has good facilities and plenty of places to eat and drink. For a change of scene pop into neighbouring Moraira This traditional family resort is popular with families thanks to child-friendly L’Ampolla beach. Another series of picturesque coves for quiet relaxation.
The Cala Blanca area of Javea offers a quieter scene. A series of unspoilt beaches and pretty coves are famous for crystal clear waters. A blissful area for snorkelling and diving.
