Montgo Holidays – Luxury villas and scenic coastline

Montgo has some of the most sought-after holiday villas on the Costa Blanca. This exclusive residential area is part of Javea: a classy resort with an entirely different reputation from Benidorm along the coast. Properties invariably come with private pools, landscaped gardens, peaceful patios and excellent self-catering facilities. Ideal for groups or a peaceful family holiday. Luxury apartments offer holiday romance for couples.

Villas are located between the emblematic Montgo Mountain and the pretty coves and family beaches of Javea. This is a great area for coast paths, watersports, golf courses, horse riding and scenic excursions. Boats ferry visitors up and down the coast to equally attractive neighbours like Denia and Calpe.

Javea is an enjoyable fishing town resort with a well-preserved medieval centre, a stylish marina and a classic Mediterranean seafront promenade. The whole Javea Denia region has a reputation for fine dining, with outstanding seafood restaurants and authentic tapas bars. Summer season nightlife is enjoyably relaxed and Spanish in style.

When to go

Spring is a lovely time to visit. You can expect lots of warm sunshine and a very peaceful scene on local beaches. Temperatures in spring and autumn are better for coast walks and trails in the Montgo National Park. You will find good weather and a very laid-back atmosphere in late summer and early autumn. Well-equipped accommodation and mild sunny weather attract winter visitors too.

Montgo is a great option in busy July and August. Downtown Javea is lively but the villa area remains blissfully quiet. Book Montgo holidays in mid-June or early September to enjoy classic Spanish fiestas in Javea.

The best beaches near Montgo

Costa Blanca beaches offer plenty of variety. Well-equipped resort centre beaches are complemented by quieter coves with fewer facilities. Main beaches have sunbeds, beach umbrellas, toilets, showers and changing rooms. Resorts in the Javea region are more authentically Spanish than UK favourites like Benidorm. Both Javea and Denia have working fishing fleets, modern marinas and picturesque old town centres with character and historical interest.

The coastline in the Javea region is the prettiest on the entire Costa Blanca. This 15 mile stretch has far more beaches than you could possibly visit in a single holiday. Sparklingly clear water is ideal for relaxed snorkelling and beginner divers.

The most popular beach near Montgo is Playa Arenal This is the best sandy beach in Javea. Gently shelving sand is ideal for children. Plenty of sunbeds for hire and well-maintained facilities. A good collection of restaurants around the harbour and along the seafront promenade. Most visitors combine Playa Arena with Playa Benissero. This mile-long stretch of fine pale shingle offers more space in peak season.

If you are looking for peaceful sunbathing and a sense of seclusion head for the Cala Blanca area of Javea. Footpaths lead to picturesque rocky coves with gorgeously clear water. A fine coast path starts from Cala Granadella. Also worthwhile is the secluded naturist beach of Ambolo. For details of coast walks and idyllic coves like Cala Sardinera ask at Javea tourist office.

We recommend a boat trip to Denia. This upmarket resort has a reputation for top quality restaurants and also has a great mix of well-equipped resort beaches and unspoilt coves. For complete contrast head down to Benidorm. This unique resort is terrific fun for a day but will also have you longing for the refined comforts of Montgo!
