The best beaches in Benidorm
The Costa Blanca offers a mix of long sandy beaches and quiet coves. Beaches are safe for children and very well supervised. All resorts will have sunbeds for hire and well-maintained toilets and showers. You will always find plenty of shops and affordable restaurants close to hotels and the beachfront. It’s easy to find quieter coves with fewer people. Cheap local buses and the coastal railway are brilliant for exploring neighbouring resorts.
When we think of Benidorm we so often ignore the outstanding sandy beaches at the heart of its success. These are arguably the best beaches on the entire Costa Blanca. You will find beaches spotlessly clean every morning. Water quality is exceptional as is access for people with mobility problems. Soft sand and gently shelving water is ideal for children.
Playa Levante has legendary status - an impressive mile-long stretch of golden sand immensely popular with British visitors. A superb promenade has many of the features you would associate with a traditional British resort. Thousands of sun beds, good facilities for children and always lively. You will find more space and a more Spanish atmosphere at equally impressive Playa Poniente. This is the best paddling beach for children and is usually quieter than Levante. Poniente is a favourite spot to watch the sunset.
For a quiet beach, with far fewer, people head for one of the smaller coves. Malpas beach is a lovely spot near the Old Town. Good for boat trips too. Hop on a local bus to Cala Finestrat for relaxed swimming and peaceful sunbathing. You can even find undeveloped beaches in the area if you are prepared to walk. For surprising seclusion continue beyond Levante Beach to the coves of Almadraba and Ti Ximo.
