The Lagoon
Lago Martianez is the spectacular eight acre, man-made lagoon in Puerto de la Cruz that attracts over 100,000 visitors each year. This tropical paradise consists of seawater swimming pools, rock waterfalls, exotic plants and white sands. The lagoon is an attraction that you will want to visit again and again.
Nightlife
Although quieter than the resorts in the south, the nightlife in Puerto de la Cruz is lively with a more local flavour. Head to the palm tree lined seaside promenade for a mix of colourful bars and clubs, some of which do not open until midnight. There is also a wide range of superb restaurants serving both international and traditional dishes.
Beach
The longest beach in Puerto de la Cruz is Playa Jardin where locals and holiday makers come to relax and swim in the warm waters. This is a more relaxed beach that is very popular with families and is an excellent choice for snorkelling and wind-surfing.
Festivals
There are numerous festivals and fiestas held in Puerto de la Cruz throughout the year. Most months will see some form of festival but July sees the largest celebration that includes music concerts, public dinners and colourful parades.
Loro Parque
One of the attractions that should not be missed is Loro Parque in Puerto de la Cruz. This extremely popular complex includes performing seals, parrot shows, a shark aquarium, a penguin house, gorillas, jaguars and even a bat cave. Adults and children alike will love this park.
Historic attractions
There are numerous historic attractions to be found on holiday in Puerto de la Cruz. You can view 15th century churches, 17th century forts, cathedrals, castles and famous works of art. You can even view the mummified remains of the original islanders at the Museo Arqueologico.
