There are a few shops, bars, banks and restaurants and with Mount Tiede’s volcanic splendour to explore, it’s a holiday that can be anything you want it to be, from adventurous to completely sedentary!

The delightful Canary Islands sub-tropical climate means holidays to Playa Paraiso are hot property throughout the year, although it’s most crowded and costs the most when demand is at its highest, during the summer break and school holidays. In winter and at Christmas the resort is popular with older people seeking winter sun, but there’s still plenty to do and the weather won’t let you down. There’s no off-season as such and because the Canarians love nothing better than a bold, bright, vibrant religious festival, there’s almost always something exciting going on. If you suffer when it gets too hot, it’s probably best to avoid August – June and July are slightly cooler.

Daytime temperatures average 25C in June, 27C in July and 29C in August, but it can – and does – get a great deal hotter. Lovely sea breezes take the edge off the heat and even in August, humidity is only moderate. In the evenings it averages 19-20C, wonderfully mild, and you’ll enjoy 9-10 hours of sunshine and 14 hours a day of daylight. It rains occasionally between October and January but winter temperatures average 20-23C during the day and 14-19C at night. Perfect!

Airport and transport need to know
There are direct flights from a great selection of British regional and major airports including all the London airports, Birmingham, Manchester, Dublin, East Midlands, Newcastle and Glasgow. Your flight will land at Tenerife South Airport, Reina Sofia (TFS) which, as the drop-off point for almost all the island’s holiday traffic, can get extremely busy. Luckily it’s well served with shops and over the years they’ve managed to get a system going which keeps things moving remarkably quickly. Playa Paraiso is just 35 minutes or so away by road, on the main TF-1 motorway.
