Beaches
The 6km of sandy beach at Puerto del Carmen is one of the major attractions for most holiday makers. The beaches in this area of Lanzarote are largest on the island and all have been awarded the European Blue Flag for water quality, cleanliness, and beach facilities. Playa Grande Beach is the largest and shelves gently into the calm Atlantic Ocean.
Nightlife
The nightlife in Puerto del Carmen can be as lively or as low key as you wish and there is something here for everyone. Choose from a romantic evening in an ocean front tavern or a nightclub where the dancing does not stop until the small hours. Karaoke bars, live music pubs and even a casino are all on offer in Puerto del Carmen.
Water Sports
The water sports in Puerto del Carmen are known as the best on Lanzarote and there is a wide variety to choose from. Playa Chica is known for its secluded cove with a dive school where diving equipment can be hired. Holiday makers can also try their hand at jet-skiing, parascending and of course the ever popular pedaloes and banana boats.
Restaurants
Fresh seafood and fish are a must in Puerto del Carmen and there are plenty of restaurants that provide these mouth watering dishes. There is also a wide variety of international restaurants, cafes and fast food outlets. For a romantic dinner try the garden restaurants around the fishing port as night falls.
Day Trips
A day trip to the Lanzarote’s capital of Arrecife is a must. The capital holds something new around every corner and is filled with picaresque winding streets with traditional restaurants and plenty of shopping opportunities. Visit San Jose castle with its art gallery and restaurant and don’t miss the small lake in the El Charco area.
