Beaches
Holidaymakers can either use the one kilometre long blue flag beach at Matagorda or head to nearby Puerto del Carmen and try the long sandy beach there. Both beaches are excellent and boast many water sports facilities as well as a host of shops, restaurants and cafes in the surrounding area.
 
Nightlife
A holiday in Matagorda means that you have the best of both worlds when it comes to nightlife. You can choose the nearby resort bars and hotels discos or head to the bustling nightlife centre at Puerto del Carmen. The nightlife is vibrant and there will be venues to suit every taste.
 
Boat Excursions
One of the best ways to see the stunning island coastline is from the deck of a boat, and boat excursions and cruises from Matagorda are very popular. Trips can include voyages around the island or to the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura.
 
Diving
Lanzarote has become an important diving base and there are plenty of opportunities when using Matagorda as a dive base. There are dive schools in Playa Blanca, Costa Teguise and Puerto del Carmen. Dive excursions include caves and reefs where you can views spectacular marine life including barracuda and angel sharks.
 
Spas
Spas on Matagorda are a popular feature and are the perfect way to unwind. Many of the hotels have their own spas and this is a growing feature with the seawater used as a fundamental part of the treatments. Book yourself in for a full day and come out feeling rejuvenated.
 
Theme Parks
The Matagorda area has plenty of theme parks that can be enjoyed by both children and adults. Don’t miss the Rancho Texas Wild West Park in Puerto del Carmen or the Ocean Water Park at Costa Teguise. Guinate Tropical Park is also well worth a visit and has an amazing array of plants and wildlife as well as the tallest volcano in Lanzarote.
