Things To Do
Beaches
The resort is situated at the northern end of the popular stretch of coast spanning Playa del Ingles and Maspalomas, and offers a smaller, quieter base ideal for families, with characteristic dark sand and three main beach areas.
Sports
Water sports on offer include scuba-diving, snorkelling, sailing and surfing, with visitors able to enjoy excellent conditions for both kite surfing and windsurfing, and the resort having facilities for tennis, squash, volleyball and mini-golf.
Sioux Western Theme Park
Originally built as a film set, the Sioux Western Theme Park in San Agustin is a major attraction, with Wild West experiences for the whole family. There are staged demonstrations such as bank hold-ups, high noon shoot outs, saloon fights, rodeo shows and Indian rain dances, with visitors able to try their hand at cowboy skills such as lasso throwing.
Water Park
The Aqua Sur Water Park at Maspalomas is the biggest on the island, and a major attraction in the area, featuring a host of slides and rides for children of all ages.
Camel Rides
Also at Maspalomas are the famous sand dunes, where visitors can experience a camel ride in a 'caravan' across this unique region with its desert landscape.
Golf
The nearest golf course is in Maspalomas, set in a nature reserve, with golfers able to choose from one other course in the south of the island, just outside Puerto Rico, and two others in the north.
Mountain biking, hiking trails and horse-riding enable visitors to explore Gran Canaria, with thrill-seekers able to try bungee jumping, kayaking and canyoning from Playa del Ingles.
Exploring
Casino
San Agustin is home to one of the islands' two casinos, ideal for an alternative evening's entertainment and the chance to win some extra holiday spending money.
Day Trips
The neighbouring resorts of Playa del Ingles and Maspalomas offer a livelier pace, with great shopping, dining and nightlife, whilst the capital Las Palmas showcases the island's rich history and culture. Fishing trips are available, with deep-sea excursions departing from Puerto Rico, and the Crocodile Park at Aguimes is easily reached from San Agustin.
