Tremendous beach walks will reward you with an invigorating sense of open space and remarkably secluded spots for undisturbed sunbathing. You can complement beach relaxation with camel rides, snorkelling, windsurfing, jeep safaris or a boat trip to Lanzarote. Playa Barca holidays can also take in the Jandia National Park, the legendary windsurfing beach of Playa Sotavento and relaxing neighbouring resorts like Jandia and Costa Calma.

The best beaches in Playa Barca

Fuerteventura beaches are considered the best in the Canary Islands. They are certainly the most spacious. Beaches near resort centre hotels are equipped with sun beds, well-maintained family facilities and are within easy reach of beach bars and restaurants. Strikingly blue water is usually calm. Beaches shelve safely into the sea and are kept very clean. Idyllic conditions for windsurfing, sailing and scuba diving classes.

The central Playa Barca beach has sun loungers, beach umbrellas, toilets, showers and a couple of beach bars. A safe environment for children offering plenty of sheltered areas well away from the open seas favoured by the windsurfers. It’s easy to reach the slightly more developed beaches at Costa Calma. The main resort centre beach is close to surprisingly wild and amazingly unspoilt stretches of fine pale sand. The atmosphere remains very relaxed even in the peak summer holiday season.

You’ll find a wide choice of windsurf schools and adventure holiday specialists. Clear water offers good conditions for scuba diving classes. Playa Barca gives easy access to Playa Sotavento, a world famous venue for windsurfing and kite surfing. Popular with naturists too. Few facilities. Semi-deserted beaches extend 17 miles south to Moro Jable so you will never have a problem finding a spot to yourself.

Most Fuerteventura beach connoisseurs rate Playa Barca beaches among the very best on the island. Couples looking for holiday romance will love the semi-deserted beaches to the south of Playa Barca. Secluded coves and extensive sand dunes are popular with naturists. A favourite spot for long beach walks. If you want wild seclusion head into the Jandia National Park. Beaches like Playa Cofete and Playa de Barlovento are well worth the effort.
