Caleta de Fuste Holidays
Caleta de Fuste holidays – Safe beaches and a relaxed family holiday vibe
Caleta is an excellent choice for families and couples happy to forego the wild open spaces of southern Fuerteventura in exchange for a more conventional resort with well-equipped beaches and a wider choice of attractions for children. Parents will appreciate the 15 minute transfer from the airport and easy access to restaurants and hotels from the beachfront. Beautifully calm water means safe swimming and fantastic conditions for beginner windsurfers. This well-organised and attractively laid out resort feels calm and unhurried throughout peak summer.
Caleta de Fuste has a wide choice of bars and restaurants but has less of a nightlife buzz than Corralejo. Low-rise hotels enjoy an excellent reputation and frequently lay on family entertainment. You can complement poolside and beach relaxation with golf, boat trips, diving lessons, whale watching and watersports. The Atlantico shopping centre has bowling and cinema. Caleta de Fuste is also known as Costa Caleta.
When to go to Caleta de Fuste
You can go to the Canaries at any time of year thanks to an excellent sunshine record and reliable winter holiday warmth. July and August see Caleta de Fuste at its liveliest but the atmosphere is far calmer than the large resorts of Gran Canaria or Tenerife. Look out for terrific deals in winter, when you can still expect long hours of warm sunshine.
Caleta de Fuste holidays in June and September enjoy the same idyllic conditions of peak summer but there are even fewer people on those spacious beaches. Spring comes early and is a great time to visit. Prices are likely to be higher during the Easter and Christmas school holidays.

The best beaches in Caleta de Fuste
Fuerteventura beaches are the best in the Canaries. Resorts typically combine well-equipped family beaches with easy access to immensely large and amazingly undeveloped stretches of soft pale sand reminiscent of the Caribbean. Beaches slope very gently into the sea and the water is wonderfully calm. Great conditions for children and a superb place to try windsurfing or have a go at snorkelling or scuba diving.
Caleta de Fuste beaches have imported sand but remain very impressive. The beach scene feels more like a conventional Spanish resort than the wilder and quieter Fuerteventura beaches of the south. But you will still find plenty of wide open spaces a short walk from the sun loungers and umbrellas.
The main resort centre beach is a well-maintained curve of golden sand with sunbeds, beach umbrellas, showers, toilets, changing rooms and beach bars. A calm family atmosphere prevails even in peak summer. The beach is conveniently close to bars, restaurants, shops and low-rise hotels and apartments. A very safe beach for children. Kids will also enjoy the sandy lagoons to the south of the main Caleta beach.
The second Caleta de Fuste beach tends to be a little more active in terms of swimming and windsurfing. The over-water bar and restaurant is a popular venue. Watersports classes available from a choice of schools, particularly in the harbour area. Family excursions could include glass-bottomed boat trips, submarine voyages and the local marine centre with dolphins.
Good buses make it easy to explore the wilder side of Fuerteventura. Caleta de Fuste holidays could easily include time at the famous El Jable sand dunes or the endless beaches of the Playa Grandes near Corralejo. Those with a car should head south to the astonishing beaches of the Jandia peninsula and relaxing resorts like Playa Barca and Costa Calma.
