Things to do in Sa Caleta
Beaches
Sa Caleta is a pretty little beach resort made for relaxation. The sheltered sandy cove with warm shallow waters is perfectly safe for families with small children. Sa Caleta beach is the perfect alternative to the popular and lively beaches found just 4km away at bustling Cala n Blanes. Binimela is also only a short journey along the coast and boasts some of the finest, most unspoilt beaches in Menorca.
Water sports
Water sports are extremely popular daytime activities in Sa Caleta. A scuba diving centre is located in nearby Cala Blanca that will provide lessons and excursions to the best dive sites around Menorca. All ability levels are catered for from seasoned divers to total novices. Sailing, snorkelling and motorised boating trips can all be enjoyed as well as guided fishing trips from Sa Caleta beach.
Excursions
Excursions to nearby resorts and towns such as Ciutadella are an excellent way to explore the island. Ciutadella mixes traditional old town architecture with modern bars, lively restaurants, two exciting water parks and an array of designer shops. Cala Blanca, to the south, boasts two stunning and very popular beaches as well as the mysterious megalithic towers at nearby Naveta dels Tundons. Cala Santandria is another popular spot with scuba divers although be aware that the beaches here do get really busy during the summer months.
Dining Out
There is no shortage of restaurants, cafes and bars in Sa Caleta serving delicious home cooked traditional Menorcan dishes. Seafood and fish restaurants at nearby Ciutadella will serve up some of the freshest seafood available on the whole island. The Ocean restaurant in Sa Caleta is well recommended for its friendly staff and traditional meals. Try out the lobster cooked with onions and garlic – a genuine speciality dish.
The Capital of Menorca
A day trip from Sa Caleta to Mahon, the capital of Menorca is a must do holiday activity. Traditional Menorcan churches and architecture rub shoulders with first class restaurants and bars. The harbour area, boasting many bars, restaurants and shops is the centre of the social scene during the day and the evening.
