Magalluf Holidays
Holidays in Magaluf
Magaluf, situated just 40 minutes from Palma airport, is the liveliest resort on Majorca, and has the reputation of the nightclub capital of the island. Found in the most developed and built up area on Majorca, Magaluf attracts over half a million holidaymakers a year, mainly British and part of the 18-30 crowd, who come as much for the bars and clubs of the resort, as for the sandy beach and wonderful Spanish sunshine.
Holidays in Magaluf - Lovely sandy beach
Magaluf is home to a fantastic sandy beach, which has been awarded the European Blue Flag for its’ cleanliness and convenient facilities. The beach stretches into neighbouring Palma Nova, which tends to be a little quieter than Magaluf, and the two resorts have begun to merge into one. The beach at Magaluf offers all different kinds of watersports, including scuba-diving, snorkelling, jet-skis, parascending and windsurfing, and frequently plays host to organised games and competitions. Behind the beach, there is a car-free promenade, lined with numerous lively bars and restaurants, and plenty of shops selling every souvenir imaginable. There is a huge selection of hotels and apartments here, catering for all budgets, and although some of the town has been modernised, the resort is still home to many fairly uninspiring buildings from the ‘60’s and ‘70’s.
Holidays in Magaluf - Non-stop action
Many visitors to Magaluf come for the notorious party atmosphere, with most of the 100 or so bars and clubs open until morning. From British pubs and karaoke bars, to dance clubs featuring international DJ’s, the choice is exhausting and perfect for those who want to keep going all night and sleep for most of the day. There are plenty of restaurants offering British food, with a good selection of Indian, Chinese, Italian and Mexican, as well as the usual fast food and burger joints. The resort offers a huge array of activities away from the beach, including go-karting, tennis, mini-golf, mountain-biking, bowling and bungee-jumping. Facilities for families here include a soft-play area, video arcades, a Wild West theme park and, for children and adults alike, the extremely popular giant water-park Aqualand Magaluf. There is a nearby weekly market in Calvia, just 10km away, and for those in search of a little culture, historic Palma is a short trip away.
