Cala Ratjada Things To Do

things to do in cala ratjada

Beaches
Cala Ratjada enjoys five absolutely superb beaches. Each has its own Water Haven Centre, which offers super-safe bathing for the kids and for adults who prefer their water totally calm! Scattered around the resort you’ll also discover a handful of lovely little mini-bays, perfect hideaways for people who like things even quieter and prefer to sun worship in peace.

Mini Train

Kids and adults alike will love Cala Ratjada’s charming Minitrain. This connects Cala Angulla and Son Moll beaches, both of which are made of gorgeous golden sand. The route also makes a lovely walk, and it’ll take you twenty minutes maximum to stroll from beach to beach.

Sailing
Sailing is very popular in Cala Ratjada because of the warm, clear waters and you’ll find regular beginners sailing courses at all five beaches.

A Rugged Coastline
The area around Cala Rajada is famed for its dramatic, jagged rocky coastline dotted with steep, inaccessible coves and caves. Away from Cala Ratjada itself, particularly at Son Moll, the sea shelves very deeply and quickly. Bathing can be dangerous if you’re not a strong and confident swimmer. Locals are proud of the islands beaches, most of which have been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag for cleanliness.

Nature
The coast at nearby Cala Agulla is ecologically unique. The entire area is a bird sanctuary, with beautiful pine forests overlooking pristine sandy beaches. Camping is popular here, as are walking, nature watching and exploring – it is easy to disappear and spend days on end in peace with nature all around. For convenience, there’s a large car park and picnic area close to the shore.

Surfing
Cala Mesquida, easy to access from Cala Ratjada, is a surfer’s heaven, a largely unspoiled bay with its own delightful sandy beach.

The Arta Caves
The spectacular Arta caves are nearby, and make a unique day out. Close to Capdepera, these spectacular caves are surrounded by high mountains and feature countless massive stalactites and stalagmites, built up over millions of years.

Capdepera
Capdepera is a pretty traditional village five miles from Arta. This quaint historic town has a fabulous castle with dramatic views down to Cala Ratjada. The region is famous for its golf  and there’s a good 18 hole course at Capdepera itself. If that’s a bit too active for your tastes, relax, take in the picturesque market square and sit in the sun with a coffee watching the world go by.
