Weather in Ponta do Sol
Ponta do Sol (translated as Sun Point) is reputedly the sunniest spot on this sunny island. Although on the same latitude as North Africa, the Atlantic has a moderating effect on the climate which is like a warm spring all year round. Temperatures vary only by around 5ºC from summer to winter. The south coast of Madeira is generally warmer and drier than the north and its sheltered location means that activity or beach holidays are possible in Ponta do Sol at any time - the sea temperature ranges from 18ºC in winter to 24ºC in September.
