Virgin Holidays Announces 50 New Retail Outlets to Open

Despite recent statistics indicating that high-street holiday bookings are falling, Virgin Holidays have announced they are to double their retail chain from 50 outlets to 100.

Currently the tour operator has 50 concessions in large department stores such as the House of Fraser and Debenhams across the UK. The expansion will see 160 new jobs created.

Sales and distribution director for Virgin Holidays, Chris Roe, said: ‘Our decision to accelerate our retail roll-out is a reflection of the way our network of outlets has performed in the last few months.

‘Our customers have responded very positively to being able to engage with our brand in this way, and our research demonstrates that our presence in these key locations has also had a positive halo effect on other retailers locally.

‘We'll continue to work with our partners in the trade as part of our long-standing commitment to a multi-channel distribution strategy.’

New outlets will be opened across the country in April, including stores in Solihull, Woking, Plymouth, Stirling, Leicester, Darlington, and Warrington.
The rest of the locations have not yet been settled upon, but it is understood that the focus will be on the Midlands and north of England. Eighty stores are to be opened by September, and 100 by January 2012.
