Virgin Atlantic restarts flights from Heathrow to Chicago
As of May 9 2011, Virgin Atlantic will be re-commencing direct flights from London Heathrow to Chicago. The service will be seasonal, and will run four times a week at first, ramping up to a daily service from May 22. Flights will be conducted on an Airbus A340-300.
The flights will be particularly useful for mopping up business to Chicago and the Great Lakes of North America region, which is expected to mushroom come the summer months. After the peak summer holidays season, the flight is expected to resume for Virgin Atlantic for the winter holidays season in October 2011.
The Executive Director of the Great Lakes of North America, Toby McCarrick, commented: “This is a welcome addition for the Great Lakes region. We are pleased to be able to offer UK travellers even more options for travel to this popular leisure destination, famous for the great outdoors and real Americana.”
One of the key US destinations for 2011, the Great Lakes of North America has seen US Airtours and Complete North America add tours to the area recently in addition to those planned by Virgin Holidays.
