Thomas Cook set to become sole sponsor of WAYN.com
Thomas Cook is set to become the sole sponsor of social network WAYN.com's travel section known as WAYNClub. There are currently Up to 1.6 million UK members of the website, which currently allows people to upload photos of their travelling experiences and share their blogs, as well as interacting with other travellers. WAYN is also rapidly expanding with approximately 300,000 new users every month. The section will feature a number of travel deals exclusive to Thomas Cook, which have been chosen to appeal specifically to WAYN members and when clicked on will direct users to a special section on Thomascook.com. Typical offers include city breaks, flight deals and holidays to Goa, Cuba and the Dominican Republic.
Andy Tidy, E-commerce Director at Thomas Cook believes it is a positive move for both companies, “WAYN is already huge in terms of the number of its members, and it is set to grow substantially in the coming months. As a major website with a travel theme it’s an ideal fit with Thomas Cook, and gives us the perfect platform to showcase the huge range of product we offer."
The partnership will also be supported by a TV campaign which is expected to start on 20 April with 20 & 40 second spots focusing on features and prizes that can be won by visiting WAYN.com. Prizes will include a Club 18-30 holiday for two, and a three night trip to Las Vegas with Flexitrips. Thomas Cook hope the link-up will accelerate its efforts to build an interactive travel community that can rival those created by dedicated online competitors, such as lastminute.com and Expedia.
Thomas Cook's acquisition of MyTravel is currently under scrutiny by European regulators.
