Texas delegates set to woo British holidaymakers on UK tour

Next month the UK will play host to tourism officials from Texas, who are here to promote the Lone Star State’s attractions. Representatives from Fort Worth, San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, TaxFree Shopping Ltd, Houston and Wildcatter Ranch will meet tour operators, travel agents and Travelbag consumers between 3-7 October.The UK is the second biggest international inbound market to Texas – which is the second largest state in the USA.
Texas Tourism’s UK sales and trade representative, Martin Court, said: ‘The upcoming sales mission aims to educate agents and promote some of the lesser known attractions and activities the Lone Star State has to offer the British market.
‘In particular, 2011 has seen us focus on the Formula 1 US Grand Prix in Austin, which will be returning to the US after a five-year absence.
‘The new US home to F1 will be at the Circuit of the Americas track, which is under construction and plans to open the track are scheduled for early 2012.
‘We have also been promoting Galveston as one of the up-and-coming cruise ports to the Caribbean, with four major cruise lines launching new ships out of the port in 2012.’
Travel agents from North American Travel Service, Trailfinders in London and Thomas Cook in Manchester will have exclusive training sessions hosted by Texas Tourism and representatives from the state’s partners.
Texas state will also host a travel agent reception for Trailfinders, North American Travel Service, Kuoni, Thomas Cook and others in Manchester.
Rickshaws branded by Texas Tourism will take guests to a consumer reception in London, co-hosted by Travelbag.
American Airways and British Airways representatives will also attend the event.
