Strikes in Spain causing problems for UK Tourists
Thousands of British tourists who have booked holidays to Spain to grab the last of the sunshine will face a commotion next week as workers in Spain plan a massive strike.
Major holiday destinations such as the Canary Islands and Majorca will pretty much totally shut down next Wednesday 29th during Spain’s first general strike since 2002.
All international flights will be disturbed, along with people travelling on trains or coaches. Only planes taking off before midnight in Spanish time on Tuesday the 28th will be allowed to land.
The 2 largest unions hope hundreds of thousands of workers will support the strike over government reforms to reduce 20% unemployment.
Further announcements are expected in the next few days.
If you are due to travel to or from Spain on the 29th September it is recommended you check with your airline to reconfirm flight schedules before leaving for the airport.
