Stella Travel Purchases Global Travel Group

Stella Travel Services UK has purchased Global Travel Group for an undisclosed amount. The deal was announced at the ABTA Convention on Tuesday 27th November and creates the UK´s largest independent network of travel agents.
 
Stella Travel Services has 80 Harvey World Travel agencies and long haul retailer Travelbag, whilst Global has 783, meaning the combined group will have a total of 1,100 travel agents. The holding company of Stella Travel Services UK also owns Travel 2 Travel.
 
Global Travel Group founder George Begg confirmed the move will allow them to meet targets more quickly and them the opportunity to look at further acquisitions in the future, stating: "This gives us financial clout immediately so we can grow ambitiously immediately."
