holiday newsThe tropical Caribbean island of St. Lucia might well be seeing new over-the-water holiday apartments soon, with Sandals Resorts planning to introduce the luxury suites at their Sandals Grande St. Lucian Village development.

Having received permission from the Saint Lucian government for the development, the recently- named World’s Leading All-inclusive Company and the Caribbean’s Leading Hotel Brand at the World Travel Awards 2010, is going ahead with construction.

The over-the-water apartments will be a first in St. Lucia and are due to begin accommodating guests in late 2012.

Adam Stewart, CEO of Sandals Resorts, commented: “We want to thank the government of Saint Lucia for their support of this project and are thrilled to begin moving forward this summer. The Caribbean is one of the world’s most exquisite and gorgeous destinations and easily accessible for many travellers. Now, with these suites, guests will no longer need to travel halfway around the world to enjoy the popular over-the-water experience.”

Twenty six over the water suits are planned, available to guests in three luxurious categories. They will feature see-through glass floors, outdoor showers and Jacuzzis, over-the-water hammocks, and back-lit water for night viewing. All suites will include butler service, courtesy of Sandals Resorts’ exclusive partnership with the Guild of Professional English Butlers.
