Silversea To Launch New HRH Prince Albert II Cruise Ship
Silversea Cruises will pay tribute to Prince Albert of Monaco when it renames the World Discoverer II to HSH Prince Albert II.
Silversea will launch the ship following a ceremony in Monte Carlo on June 12th. Although the ship is not brand new, it is currently based at the Fincantieri shipyard in Trieste, Italy where it is undergoing an extensive renovation and refit.
Silversea President Amerigo Perasso stated that cruise holidays within the adventure/expedition sector were growing in popularity: “The interest in expedition cruising is definitely on the rise, among both affluent baby boomers and seasoned travellers wanting to further enrich their already wide knowledge of more traditional and established destinations".

Based in Monaco, Silversea is a cruise company born in the early 1990s, from the former owners of Sitmar Cruises. Silversea Launched its first ship, Silver Cloud in 1994, followed by Silver Wind in 1995, Silver Shadow in 2000 and the newest ship Silver Whisper in 2001.
