Ryanair and EasyJet report October passenger rise

October saw a rise in the number of passengers travelling with both Ryanair and EasyJet.Ryanair reported an increase in traffic of 4%, from 7.02 million passengers in October 2010 to 7.27 million in October 2011.
So far this year the airline has carried 77.1 million passengers.
Load factor fell 1 percentage point, to 84% last month.
Spokesmen for Ryanair, Stephen McNamara, said: ‘We are pleased to report a 4% growth in traffic in October, bringing our summer schedule to a close.’
‘As previously advised Ryanair’s winter traffic will decline each month from November onwards as we ground up to 80 aircraft for this winter period.’
EasyJet have also reported an increase in passenger numbers, with a 7.8% rise up from 4.58 million in October 2010 to 4.93 million in October 2011.
Load factor fell 0.6pp to 88.2%.
So far this year, EasyJet passenger figures are up 11.7% to 54.8 million.
EasyJet plans to announce its results for the year ending September 30 on November 15.
The airline also celebrates the second anniversary of its Luton – Tel Aviv route today.
Since it was launched, the carrier has taken over 215,000 passengers on this route.
UK commercial manager at EasyJet, Hugh Aitken, said: ‘As the only low-fares airline for the London-Tel Aviv route, EasyJet has clearly hit the mark with both leisure and business travellers by making travel easy and affordable.’
