Ryanair will operate 150 additional routes in summer 2008. The airline which offers cheap flights has put 40 million seats on sale with a ‘lowest price guarantee’ which are said to be cut by 50%.
Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary said: "Next summer, Ryanair passengers will enjoy a record 40,000,000 seats on 556 routes at unbeatable prices. That is 150 routes more than last year and more than 200,000 low fare seats every single day of the summer. With flights from London, passengers will enjoy Ryanair's lowest fares on 113 routes, as we bring back summer favourites like Almeria, Brest, Genova, Pula and Rodez. To celebrate the release of our biggest ever summer schedule we slashing 50% off our lowest fares."
It has also been announced that Ryanair enjoyed a larger share of the ABC1 market over the past 6 months than British Airways. The report based on 1000 UK adults was released by in-flight media company InviseoMedia and carried out by iCD Research. It reveals that 59% of Ryanair’s passengers were from the top three social grades, compared to just 52% for British Airways. Dominic Stead of InviseoMedia said:
“This survey dispels the myth that budget carriers such as Ryanair carry just hen parties and football supporters. “The research clearly shows that consumers from the highest social groups now regularly fly Ryanair; they clearly appreciate the carrier’s low fares and its record for punctuality.”
