cruise holidaysRoyal Caribbean has unveiled the names of its two new ships which were previously code named as Project Genesis. The Oasis of the Seas and the Allure of the Seas have been chosen after a ‘Name that ship’ contest launched by the cruise line in January.

Royal Caribbean International president and chief executive, Adam Goldstein said: “Our customers are remarkably passionate about Royal Caribbean… this naming contest has been a fantastic expression of their interest and commitment. We are thrilled to announce these two names and grateful to USA Today for partnering with us.”

The winning duo of names were chosen by Mr George Weiser from Michigan and picked by a panel of judges. The Oasis of the Seas will launch late next year and become the largest cruise ship in the world with 16 decks catering for 5,400 passengers. Based in Port Everglades, the Oasis of the Seas will be joined by its sister ship, the Allure of the Seas, one year later.
